Editorial Standards

Sources

When we describe a specific insurer's rules, such as eligibility, start dates, waiting periods, limits or exclusions, we use the insurer's own published material: product pages, help centres and policy documents. For general guidance, we use official government sources. Each page lists the sources behind its provider-specific claims.

Every provider-specific claim on the site is recorded once, in a central register, with its source. When an insurer changes its terms, we update the claim once and every page that uses it updates too.

What we won't do

  • Invent limits, prices, waiting periods or other policy details. If we can't confirm something, we leave it out or say so.
  • Claim personal experience we don't have. We don't say we've bought a policy, made a claim or tested a service unless we have, and the page says so.
  • Invent authors, credentials, statistics or customer stories.
  • Give star ratings or scores we haven't earned through real testing.

Prices

Insurance prices depend on age, destination, options and date, and they change often. We generally don't quote prices. Insurers show you a price before you pay.

Affiliate relationships

We earn commission from some links. Commercial relationships don't decide what we say about a product's limits or exclusions, and we cover alternatives we don't earn from. Details are on our affiliate disclosure page.

Dates and updates

Each guide shows when it was last updated. We review provider-specific claims against their sources regularly and when insurers announce changes.

Corrections

If you think something is wrong or out of date, please tell us, ideally with a link to the source. We correct errors promptly.

The policy wording always wins

Our guides are general information. Your cover is decided by your policy documents. Read them before you buy and before you rely on them. See our insurance disclaimer.
