About Already Abroad
Already Abroad exists for one situation: you've already left home, and now you need insurance. Maybe you forgot, maybe your policy ran out, maybe the trip simply never ended. Most travel insurance advice assumes you're still at home planning. This site starts from where you actually are.
What we do
- Explain, in plain language, what you can still buy after departure, when it starts, and what it can't do.
- Summarise insurers' own published rules, with links so you can check them yourself.
- Point out the limits and exclusions that sales pages tend to play down.
What we don't do
- We aren't an insurer, broker or agent. We don't sell, arrange, underwrite or administer insurance.
- We can't tell you whether you're covered, or whether a claim will be paid. Only the insurer and your policy wording can.
- We don't give personalised financial, legal or medical advice.
How we're funded
Already Abroad earns money through affiliate links. If you buy through some links on this site, currently SafetyWing's, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That's why SafetyWing appears often. It's also why we publish its exclusions and alternatives. Read the affiliate disclosure.
How we research
We work from insurers' own published documents and official government guidance, and we list sources on each page. We don't claim to have bought policies, made claims or tested customer service unless a page says so explicitly. See our editorial standards.
